Sakiratou Karimou M is an Agricultural Economist dedicated to using research to address pressing challenges in the Global South, particularly in her home country, Benin. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics in Benin, she was awarded the prestigious ECOWAS Scholarship to pursue a Master of Science degree in the same field at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. With this academic foundation, she has contributed to significant research at both national and international organizations spanning critical areas such as climate change, food security, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. Currently, as a PhD researcher under the DAAD IPPAE Scholarship, she focuses on the development of biogas technology in West Africa, a promising solution for energy sustainability in the region. Beyond academia, Sakiratou is the founder of VERT-MONDE ONG (www.vertmondeong.com), an NGO dedicated to environmental protection, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and youth civic engagement. Through this organization, she has led transformative projects that empower communities and advocate for a greener future. Her dedication and impact have led her to receive international recognition, including the 2022 Gregory Award from the Society of American Foresters and the 2024 Energy Globe National Award.
