Mellyne Ongango

Mellyne has been a doctoral researcher at the Division of Social and Institutional Change in Agricultural Development since October 2020 under a DAAD scholarship. Mellyne previously worked for AGRA (previously Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa) and The Ford Foundation and has over 15 years’ experience in grant and project management in focus areas of poverty and injustice, food security, gender and youth, financial inclusion and agribusiness. Mellyne holds a postgraduate diploma in managing rural development from the University of London, an MBA from Daystar University and B.Ed. from Kenyatta University.

PhD Research Project

My PhD research is on sustainable agriculture practices among smallholder farmers (SHFs) in SSA and explores the sustainable Village-based advisors model experience in introducing regenerative agriculture practices, the experiences of women farmers and analyzes AGRA’s efforts in integrating environmental and social management system among SHFs.
