Erich has been a doctoral researcher at the Division of Social and Institutional Change in Agricultural Development since October 2024. He is a recipient of a DAAD scholarship under the International PhD Programme in Agricultural Economics, Bioeconomy and Sustainable Food Systems (IPPAE). His PhD project deals with the conservation of native vegetation in private properties in Brazilian Cerrado. His research evaluates public policies and institutional arrangements that impact farmers' decisions to deforest native vegetation for the expansion of agricultural and livestock activities in the region, seeking solutions that enable economic development with social and environmental balance in the area. Prior to pursuing his PhD, Erich worked  as a senior consultant for sustainability services at Accenture conducting decarbonization strategies for agricultural and industrial sectors. He has more than 12 years of experience in environmental economics research, business strategy and data analysis. Erich holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Federal University of ABC and a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
